I've been trying to scale my smelters beyond the point they can ever be the bottleneck in my space empire. The result for iron is this blueprint, producing 24 full blue belts of iron. Fully proliferated for 25% extra output.

Requires Plane Smelters and at least one level of the late-game Logistics Station integrated logistics research.
