Perfectly tileable smelting setup
This is my current smelting setup. It has the perfect 30 smelters/line ratio, and it is as compact as possible.
Apart from the narrower grid belts near the poles, it can tile perfectly into every belt that can fit it. Just make sure you leave a single space between each array as seen on one of the picture to ensure proper spacing.
There is also a small gap near the equator. You can fill that with solar panels, turrets, whatever you like.
